RWD was founded in 1988 by Dr. Robert W. Deutsch with the primary goal of helping large US-based manufacturing companies regain their competitive advantage in a global economy.
The company's registered trademark, "Solutions That Perform", describes our founding mission and continues to define its strategy for success.
In our early years, we focused on the automotive industry where its approach toward human performance support greatly benefited the plant floor workers who operated complex technology systems.
We formed a close business relationship with Chrysler Corporation to provide performance support services specifically to train personnel to launch new vehicles. Within a few years, we established a strong business relationship with Ford Motor Company to help the company use lean manufacturing methodologies in one of its engine plants. Over time, we developed contracts with Ford to assist in the implementation of the Ford Production System at its factories around the world.
In the early 1990s, we began providing training and documentation for Dow Chemical as it implemented the enterprise resource planning (ERP) multi-module business application, SAP. Our substantial success in developing and implementing a highly effective adult learning model for enterprise systems led to numerous large contracts to help with global SAP implementations.
Over subsequent years, we extended these services to include Oracle, PeopleSoft, and other ERP packages. We have always had a very strong IT capability. Since our conception, we have developed state-of-the-art custom information technology systems including the Holiday Inn Worldwide Reservation System, the DaimlerChrysler Mopar Diagnostic System (which is currently used by 5,000 auto dealerships throughout North America), and a sophisticated data mining and analysis surveillance system for the National Association of Securities Dealers.
Since the advent of the Internet, we have become a leader in providing both technology and business solutions for eLearning, eBusiness, and custom integration applications.
Over time, our marketplace has expanded to include corporations across a wide array of industries in North and South America, Europe and Asia, as well as major U.S. public sector agencies. Since our founding, our employee base has grown to 850 employees, augmented by many more talented individuals in our partner organizations. Annual revenues today exceed $100 million. Many other significant benchmarks also reflect our success, based on constant innovation and consistent focus on the needs of individual users of technologies.
